About Project No Rest
Project No Rest is a statewide project to increase awareness and prevention around human trafficking and how it affects our children and young people in North Carolina. Partnering with The UNC School of Social Work, the goal is to shine a light into the shadow that is human trafficking and reduce the number of youth trafficked while improving the lives of those affected by trafficking. By partnering with state and local government agencies, organizations and stakeholders, Project No Rest has developed a comprehensive plan to address human trafficking in North Carolina. Read the goals for the project below:
- Expanded awareness and prevention of the trafficking of children and youth, especially those who are involved in the child welfare system
- Improved cooperation and collaboration at the state and local levels among stakeholders and agencies that serve trafficking victims
- Development of policies and quality practices designed to prevent youth, especially those involved with the child welfare system, from becoming trafficking victims
- Improved policies and practices to identify trafficking victims
- Improved capacity to serve trafficking victims
- Expanded outreach services to children and youth who are trafficking victims
- A safe and secure place to live and heal for trafficking victims, especially those who are involved with the child welfare system
- Increased use of evidenced-based, trauma-informed services and practices
- Reduction in trauma for children and youth identified as victims of trafficking
Project No Rest looks to strengthen North Carolina’s ability to deal with human trafficking through these initiatives. In addition to creating the plan, Project No Rest will create pilot projects to provide services to youth who are identified as victims of trafficking. Everything learned from Project No Rest will be made available and shared across the country to help end human trafficking in other states.
